VOW: Choices – Luke 10:40-42

Verse of the Week

But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:40-42 (ESV)

We are all faced with many choices each day. We don’t always make the right ones. Choosing to spend time with Yeshua (Jesus) is always the right choice.

There is another scripture in Proverbs 14:12 that speaks of choices. It says “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” Yikes. This is serious.

Are you choosing the straight and narrow way over the broad way? When your friends call and want to do things that you don’t feel comfortable doing or know are not pleasing to Him, do you decline the invite, or take the easy way?

He said in this life we will have tribulations, but He also said He would never leave us or forsake us. Don’t forsake Him.

Choices have consequences and cause ripple effects. Your choices don’t just affect you. What kinds of choices are you making on a regular basis?

You can never go wrong spending time with Yeshua (Jesus). Praising the Father Yehovah. Meditating on His word, His works, and His name.

Live it out this week

This week think about the choices you make – not just the “big” ones but the small ones too. Are you choosing the good portion? Or are you choosing selfishly? Be honest.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Help me make the good choices. Choices that make a difference in the Kingdom. Choices that please You. Choices that show your grace to others. I desire the good portion. In Yeshua’s (Jesus’)Amen.
